Plumes offers a fresh take on the classic tube-like circuit that is beloved by guitarists everywhere. We have made some significant changes to the circuit to enhance its performance and bring out its true potential.

Firstly, we have replaced the traditional 4558 IC and BJT transistor buffers with JFET operational amplifiers. This modification has increased the input impedance to nearly 10 megaohms, resulting in lower noise, improved signal integrity, and a brighter high-end chime. Additionally, we have converted the 9v input to +/- 9v to power the OpAmp, which has resulted in a more dynamic and dimensional tone that can truly push a tube amp to its limits.

In addition to these improvements, we have included three different clipping options for you to explore. Mode 1 utilizes symmetrical LED clipping for a crunchier, compressed sound. Mode 2 is a clean boost mode, providing a wide open OpAmp drive for those who prefer a cleaner tone. Mode 3 employs an asymmetrical silicon diode arrangement, similar to the stock screamer, but with increased output and clarity.

The controls on the Plumes offer versatility and fine-tuned control over your sound. The Level knob adjusts the output volume, while the Gain knob determines the amount of drive. The Tone control allows you to sculpt your tone with more bass to the left, more mids in the middle, and more treble to the right. Finally, the 3-way toggle switch lets you choose between the different clipping modes to further customize your sound.

With its all-analog approach, the Plumes delivers an authentic tube-like overdrive that is sure to impress. It offers ample headroom and a three-dimensional clarity that can push your amp to new heights. The reimagined tone control is finely tuned to enhance the low end, provide clear top-end sparkle, and focus the midrange with rich, blooming sustain.
